Reviews
I understand the reviews about it feeling run down but that’s not what I see, I see a historic hotel that’s still holding up, the rooms Decor is traditional and I kinda like the throw backs. Could it do with a bit of a freshen up, probably, but go here to love an authentic old hotel by the sea and you can’t go wrong, beds and pillow super comfy which let’s face it is 75% of a stay, so I would recommend it.
The hotel was built betwern 1900 and 1908. The stay of2 nights was fine. Breakfast was fine. Plenty of room. Hotel is large with large sitting areas, comfortable chairs, very chic. Great view, near the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. Not near trainstation but straight down about 12 blocks.
Classic style hotel where you leave your key at the reception. A bit like an old movie. Maybe a bit worn since its heyday, but still very charming. Great location by the beach. Immensely nice and helpful staff.
Horridly and Deceptively advertised online and overpriced in general and as '5 star'. Terrible eyesores in the building itself and outside. Its entrance is opposite a derelict building and it's what you have to look at every time you exit the hotel and open your window, with damaged walkways, stairs etc inside the building and old cars parked right outside. I received no information regarding sun umbrellas, loungers and beach chairs included as advertised on booking.com All the attractive 'health' amenities are in a gloomy basement with no signs on the doors which will lead you to check the room one by one and with no automatic light when I shouldn't require to ask someone at the desk. My friends stayed at similar priced hotels at at 4/3 stars and were totally superior experiences. I was even approached by other clients in the hotel elevator exclaiming all the same concerns listed.
I don’t usually write reviews but I have to this time. What can I say, super disappointed by this hotel as a tourist. Says it’s a five star hotel but it’s no where even close to it, the hotel is run down and ancient has not been renovated probably in 100 years. The rooms have a strong stench of alcohol and mould. Please do yourselfs a favor and save your money there are other much better hotels which you can choose.
